Biografía

Asahi Saiba is a handsome young man in his early twenties. He has a slim build, with messy dark hair. He is usually seen wearing a striped dress shirt under a sweater vest. When cooking, he wears a dark chief uniform, a dark colored bandana around his neck and a newsboy cap. Later it is found out that he is the king/leader of the Noir who only joined Tootsuki tea ceremony and Culinary Academy as a lecturer with the alias Suzuki only to challenge Yukihira Souma, the first seat of the elite ten of Tootsuki Academy to mock shokugeki. Unexpectedly after defeating Yukihira, he reveals to Sōma that what he needs is not his seat, but the right to claim that he defeated the First Seat so he can move to the second step of his goal, to take Erina Nakiri as his wife.

Asahi has a fairly laid-back demeanor at casual instances, treating his first class lecture as more of a get together party rather than a traditional lesson. He is considered very charming and charismatic by most people, making him quite popular with women. He even managed to earn the loyalty of a few highly capable Noir chefs as well. However, Asahi is also very arrogant, especially about his immense cooking abilities. He firmly believes that he's the only person who can satisfiy Erina and Mana's God Tongue(Erina's mother). Before he faces someone, he would usually taunt them into wagering their prized cooking knife so he can add them to his collection.

It is said that Saiba has a very unique cooking talent called Cross Knives. It is just like Subaru Mimasaka's Perfect Trace however times ten more powerful, efficient and effective. Furthermore this technique only activates when Saiba touches the knife of a chef. After touching that knife he can feel all the emotions, struggles, trial and errors, journeys and other experiences of that particular chef. Now here's its specialty, Cross-knives are used in many pairs, meaning Saiba can use two or more knives that he stole from two or more different chefs and combine their skills together to create a very unique dish that is capable of satisfying the God Tongue without making them feel bored. The reason why this ability is very dangerous is because Saiba will be capable to use unlimited combination of knives to produce different dishes each one unique from the other. However the biggest disadvantage that this ability holds is that, this technique causes a chef to lose his own uniqueness, originality and self creativity. All the things that Saiba may pour on his dish will include others' efforts however lack his own 'self-ness', meaning it would not be something that he can claim his 'own' and this disadvantage can be felt by the God Tounge which can lead to a high level of inconvenience.

Saiba Asahi and his fellow Noir members were invited by the BLUE to partcipate in the competition and this where Yukihira Souma, Nakiri Erina, Tadokoro Megumi and Takumi Aldini would face against students from other Culinary Academies and of course Saiba Asahi and his fellow members of the Noir.

[Spoiler] Saiba Asahi lost to Yukihira Souma in the BLUE semifinals due to his lack of originality in his dish. Since Saiba defeated Saiba Joichiro aka Yukihira's dad and as Yukihira defeated him, it meant that Yukihira unofficially surpassed his dad. [/Spoiler]

[Spoiler] After the BLUE, it is revealed that, Asahi Saiba is the illegitimate son of Azami Nakamura aka Nakiri Erina's dad and Nakiri Erina's elder half-brother. After finding out about this truth, Nakiri Erina, officially welcomed to the Nakiri Family, telling him that he was a part of the family. Seven years later, an official member of the Nakiri family, Saiba Asahi can live with his step-mother, father, half-sister and half-cousins happily as he currently serves as an instructor to both the middle and high school sections of Tōtsuki Culinary Academy [/Spoiler]
